Of course not, Trump is incapable of feeling empathy about anyone or anything that isn’t him.

The only surprise is him admitting it out loud.

I find it even more surprising he managed a single complete sentence with absolutely no trace of a lie contained therein…

Hateful and short as that sentence may be. 🤷‍♂️ 🤡

The biggest surprise for me is in how America just stands by and says nothing about it

If Biden had been up there saying that about a political opponent … it would make headlines all over the world.

Trump does it and his behaviour is so normalized that everyone just shrugs their shoulders and moves on.

These idiots in positions of power saying and doing whatever they want aren’t the problem … it’s everyone else who just accept it all.

It’s like the “only Democrats have agency” thing.

When Democrats fuck up we’re like wow they really screwed up, look at these bad choices, they’re fucked up.

When Republicans fuck up we’re just like well yeah that’s what they do. You don’t get mad at the sun for setting or a fire burning. Sometimes we act like they’re just immutable forces of nature instead of human jerks.

We don’t really hold Republicans to any standards.

The difference, as a rule, is Democrats CARE what people say. Look at what happened with Al Franken. If he had been a Republican he would have said “It’s a joke, get over it.” and would be in office today.

They care to a point. Most people want a populist anti-elite approach to politics and messaging but that’s off limits. In reality, what you see is the following dynamic:

          • Republicans get their cues by testing various talking points on their base to see what sticks. They respond to the response of their base and double and triple down on the most popular. So in a sense get their policy cues from their base, but I left out one crucial thing: they’re extremely disingenuous about it because the talking points are mostly just culture war tabloid style outrage bait — moral panics filled with lies and half-truths. Still, to the common Republican voter, this seems like a dialogue.
          • Democrats could do the same thing but with real stuff. Even appeals to emotion are fine as long as you’re being truthful, because a lot of the time you need to meet people where they are. But Democrats do not talk to their voters at all, they despise them and feel entitled to their vote because hey, look how bad the Republicans are. But then where do they get the policy if they don’t talk to voters? Oh, why, the Republicans of course! They triangulate a “common sense” position between their ivory tower ideas (mostly just “civility”), the Republicans and the (pre-programmed) Republican base. Except for the populism, you see, because that’s “going low” and they’re going to be the adults in the room who “go high”.

I hate this worthless octogenarian club of a party, sometimes more than the Republicans.

(I apologize that this turned into a rant. I do want Dems to win, I just want them to stop being, you know, them.)

Trump is trying to get other people to say it, too. Like the way this post is sort of working in Trump’s favor if that is his desire.

Lol. You’re next, Trump. You old ass fuck. You won’t outlive the majority of this country. You already lost your marbles, you chickenshit bag of bones. You can’t outlive the youth that wants you and your policies gone.

I Really Don’t Feel Sorry for Him.

Yes, I already don’t feel sorry for him. I’m 100% sure his actual mental and physical health - his most guarded secret - is very much worse than what he likes to broadcast. I mean listen to him talk, look at him move. Fear must be settling in at the back of his mind. There isn’t many people on this world I wouldn’t feel any compassion for, but he is one of them. He has consciously chosen to be the asshole too many times and on too grand a scale.

The sympathetic message was quite obviously the words of someone else,

    This is who he is

A vile, cruel piece of shit

Oh, he’s a chicken too. And fat.

There it is, I remember reading his Truth Social post where he was nice to Biden about it when it first came out and going “There’s no way he doesn’t say something horrible once he’s asked live on camera.”

Trump’s remarks were a far cry from his statement in the immediate aftermath of Biden’s diagnosis.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” he wrote. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

There’s no way Trump actually wrote that

Well of course he doesn’t - he’s a psychopath. A complete lack of concern for others is one of his defining characteristics.

And even beyond that, Biden’s a special case.

Another aspect of Trump’s mental illness is his entirely self-absorbed conception of reality. For instance, he wanted to win in 2020; and he believes he deserved to win in 2020, therefore, from his delusional point of view, the only possible reality is that he did win, but somebody stole it from him.

And that somebody is Biden, and since another aspect of his mental illness is to childishly cling to grudges over perceived wrongs, he has it in for Biden specifically.

I always remember that prophetic quote from some time between 2016 and 2019: “He will not go willingly”.

It was either Mary Trump or Tony Schwartz; they both said things to that effect.
