There is this little crow at Piazetta Savoia in Cagliari who left its nest a bit early two weeks ago. The staff of the surrounding gastronomy fed it and now it is absolutely not scared of people and hangs around there. Doing all kinds of dorky baby crow stuff. Really crazy to see, never seen this before. It made me jump just now, as it nibbled on my sandals as I am writing this.

I passed by here earlier in the morning and was glad to not see it here, so it does seem to have a bit of a life outside of the Piazetta.

I am no crow expert, but I know that it quite often happens that crows leave their nest too early and then keep sitting on the ground. That does not mean the parents don’t care for it anymore, but they may still be feeding it. So I would not just pick up a sitting baby crow before observing if the parents are still there for it. It could take a couple hours though.

      I mean yea, if you want to contribute to an instance whose main admin holds these beliefs, I cant stop you. But sure, I’ll cross-post it for you 👍

      For the link thing, there is a link. It’s available in the dedicated cross-post section under each post (in the default UI) or in the dedicated menu for apps

      As far as why I don’t also post it in the body, here’s a previous reply I made:

      Nah, for one, that “cross-posted from” thing is dumb AF when there’s a dedicated UI button/link that automatically shows when a link is detected elsewhere on the Lemmy-verse.

      For two, I’m cross-posting content from .ml comms to the nearest non-.ml comm as part of ongoing boycotting efforts to reduce .ml’s influence to make defederation an easier decision for admins everywhere because of the .ml admins insistence to push their Tankie ideology through various means from censorship of views critical of Authoritarian regimes such as Russia or China to allowing propaganda outlets (such as RT) to flourish

      Adding a low-friction link like that runs counter to that.
