Did you notice that they go plainly out into these new worlds with no care for germs, what’s so ever? Like, holy fuck. At least the Prometheus movies ‘kind of’ made a point about it in the second one with the mushroom cloud in the beginning.

You could lampshade it by saying that the stargates clear them of dangerous pathogens.

To be fair, you’d pretty much need that to have a multi-planetary stargate system.

I mean, they really jumped the shark when they proved that the stargates kept copies of you in their cache, that they accessed that one time to bring back someone who didn’t make it through the wormhole before it accidentally shut down mid flight. with that being the case, 1… the data already arrived so why didn’t he come out before it shut down… and 2, free cloning technology that we completely ignored the significance of.

But, hey, they did dumb stuff like that all the time.

Yup, and later in the series they connect one Stargate to every other gate in the galaxy at the same time… so if you can do that, what happens if a person goes through it? Do they exit through all gates simultaneously?

1… the data already arrived so why didn’t he come out before it shut down…

I think they do address this in the episode - the problem was that the Stargate program built their own dialing computer because they didn’t have the original DHD, which is more sophisticated. I think they literally say that if they’d had a real DHD the problem would never have happened.
