I will just leave this here and provide a few bullet points. See the original document for links to the sources.

KAN, supporting the genocide, apartheid and occupation

    1. KAN shared a video of Israeli children singing “We will annihilate everyone” in Gaza - link 1, link 2
    2. During the filming of a genocide-normalizing piece in Gaza, Major Bezalel Batit, Deputy Commander of the 931st Battalion, orders the murder of a Palestinian riding a bicycle, a war crime, on KAN’s camera: “I want to take this cyclist down. Strike him.” - link
    3. Rotem Achihun, KAN’s news host writes and dedicates bombs to the “people of Gaza” - l

Political interference and political instrumentalization of Eurovision 14. Eran Cicurel, the editor of the international news desk at KAN Reshet Bet radio, admits that “The [Eurovision] song contest has long been more than just a musical event; it is a critical arena for Israeli advocacy” - link
    15. Eden Golan performs rejected Eurovision song at UN on October 7 2024 - link
    16. Isaac Herzog, the Israeli head of state, made a direct and unprecedented intervention to make sure Israel wouldn’t be excluded from Eurovision, saying that he contest was too important for Israel not to be represented

KAN, Eurovision 2024 21. During the livestream of Eurovision, KAN made extremely offensive and derogatory comments about other countries’ participants, going as far as calling for the extermination of Nemo and Gåte (by calling them Amalek). Eurovision rules state that participating broadcasters “shall ensure that no contestant, delegation or country is discriminated and/or ridiculed in any manner”. The EBU acknowledged that these comments happened and confirmed that KAN’s commentators have broken the rules. Still it did nothing and allowed Israel to remain and compete in the final - link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4, link 5
    22. Several artists and delegations accused the Israeli delegation of harassment - link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4, link 5
    23. A KAN employee ran a campaign against Bashar (Palestinian musician) in the Iceland national selection

At this rate “exterminate the gays” is apparently the intended vibe of Eurovision and the EBU, unless they kick Israel and its supporters out.

I never cared or watched but from things I’ve seen (against my will) it looks like a big major-label-backed advertisement. And from what I know those lack morals. Is it close to how the real thing works?

        a big major-label-backed advertisement

Not necessarily, but a big major label can obviously see a benefit of having one of their upcomming artists take part in the competition. But if this were really true we’d see much bigger artists joining or the top artists blowing up much more often. Most of them don’t end up with that many new fans once the competition is over, I guess because their song is too different from the rest of their music and they end up as one hit wonders like Loreen (the singer of Euphoria). Sometimes they do get a large following at first but within a year or two their new fanbase just slowly disappears. The only group that ever made it big because of Eurovision is ABBA.
