- Brush teeth
- Lie down in bed
- Put in earplugs
- Read a book on e-reader until falling asleep
- Put away e-reader and sleep
I used to use my phone in bed and watch videos until falling asleep until fairly recently, when I decided to try to switch it for reading books instead. I’m seeing great results so far, falling asleep earlier and staying asleep more consistently
put phone down
sleep
fall asleep
wake up from sound of phone hitting the floor
My full routine:
- clean my glasses
- shower
- water floss & brush teeth
- moisturize
- take nightly meds
- reading a book somewhere other than my bed (this is when I begin to avoid blue light), usually for an hour
- put hair up in a night cap
- put mouth guard in (I have bruxism)
- turn noise machine on
- in bed I try to gently redirect thoughts that are too intense, but otherwise let my thoughts drift
Brush my teeth. Change. Lie down. Say goodnight to SO. Read a book until my eyes start closing (or one hour, whichever comes first). Put book to one side. Put on my eyeshades. Sleep.
Lately, I have been using a ‘night sky’ projector, on a timer, paired with a Bluetooth speaker playing DS9 promenade ambience. Sometimes, I try Subnautica ambience, but I require white noise of some kind. Very magical and it’s kind of hard to sleep without it now
Love it. I use TNG engineering night shift ambience. I might have to try Subnautica, that’s a good idea.
I do screens off 2 hours before and when I start to feel tired I do the front door checks and make camomile tea. I then watch sitcoms till I start to nod off, then go to bed.
Honest question, what’s the point of screens off if your game plan is nodding off in front of your TV?
I guess it’s more passive for them. I’m the opposite as I get engrossed in good TV, don’t care much for filler streaming slop.
It doesn’t require attention and I can’t see the time, plus blue light
Your TV emits just as much blue light as your phone… It’s literally a screen, you’re not doing screens off
Yep for the 40 minutes I’m not, but I find it helps me to avoid it before then
Take 2 Ambien, and a lorazepam and wait for the walrus to tell me what to do.
Make sure my alarm is on, plug in phone and iPad, lay down in my hammock and wrap up.
Child in bed by 8pm. Game as partner cooks. We watch a movie. They go to bed 10-11pm. I then go game for 1-2 hours. Then tv or journal and go to bed. I’m always under seven hours of sleep.
This schedule sucks sleep wise but I get to do what I want. I really need 2-3 hours of cooldown after work and baby.
complete evening task, hit the shower or not, this depends if i showered earlier in the evening or not. Then it’s one of the following viz: a. Netflix and snooze
b. watch documentary on youtube till i fall asleep
c. Listen to erotica podcast (slept to a lot of We gotta thing podcast and Accidental swinger).
Brush my teeth. Read a little bit. Fall asleep.
