I think it’s an honest question, which is a respectful thing to ask if you don’t know. I myself haven’t been sure, because I’ve heard it pronounced multiple different ways even by news pundits.

It’s not official until the convention, but it’s not hard to keep a tally of the number of delegates that have voluntarily endorsed her or said “she will get my vote”. They’re just reporting that the tally is high enough that she’ll win if nothing changes. It’s just…the news reporting stuff.

Last time we had a candidate this old, he was a Democrat and he stepped down. If I was a young Republican voter I’d be asking myself why my party only wants to prop up elderly candidates. It’s insane to allow someone as old as Trump into the oval office, and we’ve heard many Republicans say this recently! Hopefully they’ll continue to voice this opinion and vote accordingly. I know what I would do if I were them.

And also, if old people are so sensitive to attacks on old age why wasn’t Biden leading in the polls?? That’s been the main attack on him for years, and people have said much worse about him than what is said about trump in this thread. If people suddenly clutch their pearls when it’s Trump being mocked for being senile, they were a Trump supporter to begin with.

Kamala has notoriously been one of the most invisible VPs in recent memory. I actually think that could work in her favor. What in her record from the last 4 years is even attackable? She can campaign on all of Biden’s wins as his VP, but all of her negatives are from before she was VP and are well known by now. She won’t lose voters over those things at this point.

Though perhaps if Biden lost in 2016 we would’ve had Hilary running in 2020, and who knows if she would’ve won that one. Then we could be approaching Trump’s 3rd term (with help from his friends in the Supreme Court) with Russia chewing through Ukraine and on their way to Eastern Europe, a fractured NATO alliance, and probably some other unimaginable horrors.

With Trump running in 16, 20, and 24, I don’t know if there’s a timeline change that would prevent 2024 from being an absolute clusterfuck. Unless maybe RBG had retired during Obama’s term as she should have.

It’s crazy to see the difference in tone CNN and other major new outlets have adopted when talking about Biden, vs. how they talk about Trump.

With Biden it’s “What a national embarrassment, no way this man can lead in his current state, voting for him is nearly elder abuse and you should be ashamed of yourself.”

With Trump it’s “jeez get a load of this guy lol. He’s just so silly with the things he says, who would take him seriously about the crazy stuff? Might be worth a vote?”

You had every opportunity in this thread to actually point to 1 dictatorial or ultra conservative policy Joe has implemented, and by not providing even 1 example you’re having the opposite of the intended effect.
