They aren’t rethinking EV strategy. They’re rethinking their bottom line. Somewhere around two thirds of EVs manufactured are SUVs. Pushing into electric vans is a smart move when considering the bottom line. There’s far more room in the van space to grow than the already saturated SUV market.

If they were really rethinking their EV strategy, they’d reintroduce the electric Focus to the European market, introduce it to the American market, and pump the brakes on the F150 Lightning in favour of these vans which are both more utilitarian and pedestrian friendly.

I have a Lightning and I love it. I live in an area with lots of trucks and I’m so confused by the comment about cybertuck sale outpacing the Lightning, I wonder if that is completed sales or if they are counting preorders.

Most of the people I know with trucks strongly dislike the cyber truck look and want something that feels and looks familiar. I see more lightnings around here than cyber trucks too.

I’ve only seen one lightning, and zero cybertrucks (aside from ones on a tesla dealer lot.) I do see a LOT of Rivian trucks though.
