The alleged planner of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, was arrested in Pakistan in 2003.

He was subjected to a number of “enhanced interrogation techniques”, including “waterboarding” - simulated drowning - at least 183 times before the practice was banned by the US government.

Kind of silly to call this a plea deal and act like it’s just justice as usual. There’s two decades of torture behind it, how can he plead to anything? I also doubt he had a choice between a trial and a plea in any case, it was probably that or back to the torture dome.

I’m sure they have a mountain of evidence but this feels like really gross pandering.
