President Donald Trump says the U.S. military struck three sites in Iran, directly joining Israel’s effort to decapitate the country’s nuclear program in a risky gambit to weaken a longtime foe amid Tehran’s threat of reprisals that could spark a wider regional conflict.
Unpopular opinion. But we’d be here if Trump was never elected. The US has wanted reason to invade Iran for decades. Trump definitely does damage to America’s image. But, as far the the third world’s image of America, no one did more damage than Biden did with his Genocide of Gaza.
The main point being. US imperialism is not directed by the president alone. It is directed by Americas defense industry and military industrial complex. I think the main difference between Trump or a Biden/Harris would be the aesthetics. And maybe going through the steps of Congress. But this war is what Imperialism is demanding.
“As Commander in Chief, I will ensure America always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world.”
I agree, the us’ imperialism is driven by a lot more than just a few individuals at the top. The ‘aesthetics’ would likely have kept a lot more allies on board. But the biggest change I see is how the powers driving the country are not only hurting a lot of people outside of the US (which goes for most developed countries), but is also more and more hurting people inside the US (similar to oppression in autocratic countries).
As far as the war in Iran goes I’m not so sure, if Democrats would have continuously stayed in power, the deal would most likely be up. But then the defense industry would still push for war somewhere else, so who knows what the world would have looked like. I’m not convinced it would look better.
Exactly. There’s a reason Dem leadership isn’t condemning this.
Yeah. American foreign policy is always bipartisan. How they decide to spin it is the only difference between parties.
Why would they? AIPAC wants this and funds both sides to they always get what they want.
