Like the trinity is a core tenet of Christianity but no one really needs to know about that to understand Christianity. The whole question is about societal implications of the religion. If we were all Muslim, no one would need to know anything.

Not really. Like the trinity is a core tenet of Christianity but no one really needs to know about that to understand Christianity.
