So my prefered way to fediscroll is to go through all and remove communities I have no interest in and subscribe to things I like so that at some point in the future if all is to cumbersome I can do the subscribe area. One thing I block is meme communities and oh boy it gets tiresome because everyone seems to want to make one. several leapards ate my face, 196, and other ones reposting from other social media and then meme wise there is just no end. I have been tempted to put a keyword block for meme and bombass and things like 196 or leapardsatemyface but I only want them to block communities based on the title or description pretty much but im not sure if key word blocking will block like a user comment that says meme in it or something. Can anyone help me understand how keyword blocking works?

Keyword filters only block posts, not comments or communities.

Rather than using ‘All’ I recommend using Topics and Feeds to find interesting new communities and subscribe to them.

If people are feeling the need to browse ‘all’ as a way to discover which communities they like, PieFed has failed to provide a proper way to discover communities. We will continue to improve on this as time goes on.

I don’t think its a failure its just not need much yet. If the federation grows to the size of redditt it will be more relevant. Blocking or its equivalent in subscription of unsubscribing will always be necessary. Like there are meme communities for almost every topic so the subsciption thing can capture many things but that is still going to contain things someone does not want. Like I want to see communities about games and video games in particular and elden ring in particular but not elden ring memes or baltro in particular. So regardless if its perusing all and blocking or perusing subscribed and unsubscribing it will be sorta the same issue except with the subscritpion thing you might miss communities you might like because you were unaware of them. The topics are handy though but they will never be some ultimate solution to interaction. I for example like to peruse the comic topic seperately to read through them and if the federation grew enough that might be nice to do with games or stuff. If im really looking for news I might browse just that. To me that is the real strength of the topics. To be able to isolate areas you want to look at that is even smaller than subscribed.
