Why are there nuclear cooling towers in this picture? That’s water vapor, they aren’t causing cancer.

It’s a coal plant in Winfield, WV. Cooling towers aren’t exclusive to nuclear plants and not all nuclear plants have them. They’re needed for any plant that works by piping water around to absorb the heat from whatever it’s doing and then releases it back into the environment.
