More recent talking points have been trying to incite violence and rioting by dems/leftists which make them seem like they are coming from foreign actors.
Yeah, there was a little bit of that before the election too, but I’m expecting that it will switch around to a much bigger mixture. I’m a little bit surprised that there is still some amount of “Biden was terrible on immigration” posting, and at the lack of “good leftists are ready for violence, please start attacking MAGA people now, it’s on” postings.
I’ve been idly speculating about what the disinformation will be now that the election is over. Pretty much the only thing I’ve seen is that Trump is a genius because he fixed Palestine now, with the cease-fire he pushed for, and this comical outlandish praise for how tough and skilled he was when he dealt with Netanyahu. That might be the focus, just general puffery for Trump and vague anti-NATO mumblings from time to time, until something changes and they need a new main message. I think with the election over the mission is for now pretty much accomplished.
You can see this by observing the big ramp up in Lemmy posts with Gaza-related keywords in the title leading up to the election, as some of the accounts started spamming it absolutely relentlessly, and then a reduction in focus again right after the election:
I’d be interested to overlay another line showing how many of them were negative towards Biden or linking the war to Biden / Harris in some way. I have a theory about what that line would look like.
I’ve gone through the history of many of the concern trolls and the reoccurring theme seems to be to amplify any criticism that can be used to downplay GOP actions. Which make it seem like they are just setting up the talking points to use for the “both sides are the same” tactic to sow apathy in democratic voters when the next election comes along.
The message may change but the goal to sow apathy is consistent.
Fully agreed.
