    Didn’t he just plainly refused a background check and ignored taking a position over if he will follow orders to shot people in the legs if requested during a protest?

    Not the best, not the brightest.

    That cabinet looks more and more like a junk drawer.

      Depends on whether you want unilateral power over the entire awesome might of the US government, unchecked by silly things like ethics or background checks, or to employ someone who will shoot protestors if he’s asked to. Some people really want those things and view a nominee who embodies them to be absolutely the best.
