While MeToo and BLM were fairly short-lived political movements, they had an incredibly large and positive impact on the culture.
I remember a time just before covid when saying “black lives matter” was a controversial phrase. Now, not being able to say it is fairly scandalous. But for gay marriage, I can’t think of many things which were as widely accepted as the fight for racial equality (in slogan, at least).
I’m not excited for the pendulum to swing back, led by corporate america, joy.
Toxic Zamboni gases
I hope they didn’t, and that surprise is still yet to come
“It’s interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space,’" she wrote on social media platform X. “I’ll be there on Sept. 10, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there.”
She’s definitely signaling that she’s going to give him a spanking at the debate. I really hope it happens, and he gets into his defensive mode where he really scrambles.
The AGA said 26 attorneys general were going on the trip. The nonprofit group said the Olympics were not on the itinerary, though the marquee international athletic competitions coincided with it. In 2022, the group sponsored a trip to Qatar in time for the FIFA World Cup soccer games, which some AGs attended.
The group said it would not make public the 2024 schedule or exactly which AGs were attending in France because of security concerns.
Oh “security concerns” of course. Publish the list of names and locations afterwards then.
Some national security experts even muse about whether the U.S. government should declare that it will not bargain for the release of anyone who disregards warnings against visiting Russia, Iran, North Korea and other high-risk countries.
At this point, I’m in favor of this. If you’re visiting Russia or North Korea (or Iran or Belarus) in the year 2024, it shouldn’t be the responsibility of the US state department to rescue you.
It’s not like Italy or South Africa or Brazil or New Zealand (or even the more autocratic European countries Hungary and Türkiye) are going to snatch up Americans as bargaining chips. It’s just a very short list of totalitarian states that you’d have to be an idiot to visit anyways.
Polio’s back in Gaza. All kinds of human stupidity are leading to the preventable spread of diseases
Whoever she picks, it can’t possibly be as bad of a choice as Ol’ Couch Fucker.
He hasn’t got the time to parent his children, he’s got a full time job going on podcasts to berate the rest of us for not having children.
JanceDance Vance is the gift that keeps on giving.
Trewhella helped to rehabilitate his reputation through his 2013 self-published book, “The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates,” which uses a 16th-century Protestant doctrine to argue that government officials have a God-given right and duty to defy laws, policies or court opinions deemed “unjust or immoral” under “the law of God.”
He’s preached this doctrine to county Republican parties and local groups across the country, even to the National Sheriffs’ Association, a preeminent law enforcement organization.
He’s preaching to the police that they’re above the law. The fuck is wrong with him?
Short of a major heart attack, Trump isn’t giving up one iota of power. Really helps to draw a contrast between the parties, where one guy is willing to step down and the other is prepared to crash the plane with us all in it.
What a weak man. Donnie needs his own little safe space to make sure he doesn’t have to deal with actual reality.
“Why didn’t Kamala Pelosi stop January 6th from happening? She was in charge of security that day, I’ll never forgive her for that.”
State Rep. Justin Heap had 42.4% support to 35.9% for Richer when The Associated Press called the race Wednesday morning. Don Hiatt, a candidate who worked in information management technology, took 21.8%.
Richer is an outspoken defender of the swing state’s election process who forcefully pushed back against the unfounded voter fraud claims that spread after the 2020 and 2022 races.
Heap, a critic of Maricopa elections in years past, has dodged questions about whether the 2020 election was fraudulent. He was endorsed by many prominent Arizona Republicans who have refused to accept Joe Biden’s victory four years ago, including Kari Lake, who is running for the Senate this year after her failed 2022 campaign for governor.
Only the worst Republicans are winning. Hopefully a large turnout in November will decisively defeat all the Trumpiest candidates
Just wait until Texas rules that the fetus was an accomplice, and gives a pregnant woman a double sentence.
E. coli levels should stay at or below 900 colony-forming units per 100 milliliters for “sufficient” water quality, according to World Triathlon. Only 1 of 4 test sites along the Seine showed levels below that limit, AP reports.
Training events had already been postponed with elevated bacteria levels following the downpour over the opening ceremony. Heavy rain can overwhelm sewage and wastewater systems, allowing untreated water to reach the river.
There’s more rain in the forecast for Paris tonight. But for now, both the women’s and the men’s triathlon events are scheduled for Wednesday at 8AM and 10:45AM local time, respectively. There’s also a backup date of August 2nd.
Seems to be pretty shitty odds of this happening on Wednesday

Did they not pay Ken a bribe or something? There’s no way he’s doing this for normal Texans
