First introduced in the late 1970s as an effort to boost low voter turnout, postal voting was anchored in Swiss law in 1994. By 2006, all 26 cantons had introduced functioning systems.
“It works well, so there’s not much debate about it,” says Uwe Serdült, a political scientist at the University of Zurich. Cantons report that around 90% of citizens now vote by post, and some have reported figures up to 97% (Aargau, 2017). There were debates about security in the early years of postal voting, Serdült says – as there are now around e-voting. But over the years it has been accepted, largely due to the high levels of trust in Switzerland – “vis-à-vis the state, and in the postal system”.
Nice!
I still find it weird that voting by mail is not more common in the US (and other countries). Here in Switzerland, 90% of votes are done by mail and it works great.

point all the lights down
This is so simple but way too many don’t do it. There is a streetlight that illuminates our room completely, even though it is 4 stories below…
Fair point, but I think there are technical solutions for differentiation
Another more crazy idea could be to use a remote (e.g. a smartphone) which communicates with lights to automatically have illuminaiton around you from public lights. People could even set their own brightness
What about some combination of 2 and 3 with “smart” control, like motion activated or buttons that light up a street for the next 500m or so and turn off after some time
You can borrow them forever from libgen or similar ;)
Not only a queer thing, being queer just means that you’re likely required to question social norms. But that can of course come from otjer angles too
Somewhat lackluster and no word about statistical significance
But generally it could make sense: Queer people are often forced to confront themselves and their relation to others, then it’s not surprising that this may also apply to other living beings.
I think most websites have better UI now. Sure not all of them, but generally they are more appealing and easy to navigate from any device.
