I am glad that decent politicians are condemning this attack, as they should. But I think it makes sense to put this incident in perspective, Trump has promoted and supported political violence himself many times before this, including on Jan 6th

I think it’s really fucking sad that people get dressed in nice clothes every morning (with makeup for some), and commute 1-2 hours to eat a stale or costly lunch and maybe shit in a public toilet to 1) write Jira tickets, 2) sit on zoom meetings, or 3) white board some bullshit that will immediately become irrelevant in crunch time and then retreat home like zombies to repeat it all over again.

Have some dignity, work from home, unless your job actually requires physical presence (like nursing, teaching, mechanical etc.).

From what I’ve seen, the foreign border control is the main line of control, that’s why they separate lines into people with EU passports and other passports. It’s the same as moving without border control between US states 🤷‍♀️

IMO, open borders are risky because not everyone trying to get through is a poor family or worker. There are a lot of bad actors out there, and you definitely don’t want people like that getting through without resistance. Think drug dealers, human traffickers, other types of organized criminals, including foreign agents. Sadly, the world isn’t just people operating on good will.

Who might be barred from registering to vote under this? The naturalized and foreign birth citizens are the most likely people to have passports for ID/registration purposes. I think you already had to provide such ID in the past, so what does this change, effectively?

A poor white person who doesn’t travel will likely not have a passport, and may also not be able to locate their birth certificate in time. So again, who is this law meant to disenfranchise?

A lot of time, the justification to dehumanize comes from the news media, a religious figure, or some close relationships. Treating someone like they’re subhuman is a cultural thing, and people who do it do so with the understanding that they can “get away” with it because they have safety in numbers
