Canada can either be a beacon for science, education, responsible government and freedom, or it can descend into fascist oppression like the USA. Vote, and keep this man away from power.

How’s your family doing?
Musk cannot take the heat. He has not just the taste and sensibilities of a boy, but the temperament of one. He throws a fit out when things don’t go his way. He wilts. This is someone who can be beat. In another context you might call this terminal inability to take a punch a “glass jaw.” The term “keyboard warrior” comes to mind. But I can think of another word for something that’s so ostentatious and in-your-face except for when it needs to be—a symbol of decadence and insecurity and deregulation that boasts bulletproof toughness, but which breaks into pieces at the first sign of stress.
Elon’s not unstoppable, Wisconsin voters showed on Tuesday. When the rubber hits the road, he’s nothing but a Cybertruck.
Well put. Elon is not a tough guy. Make him uncomfortable.
It’s about Quebec’s Bill 96, which requires companies of a certain size to do business in French (so documents and communications must be available in French), and also requires French labeling on products (with parallel English labeling optional). The USA complains that this is too onerous. But Quebec is a French-speaking province, so it’s like complaining that France expects you to do business in French.
The bill:
Ethnic cleansing is pretty popular in Israel:
80% of Israeli Jews support US President Trump’s proposal to ethnically cleanse Gaza, survey finds
He’s addressing the real problems of society: people trying to save the planet, people trying to learn, people trying to use the bathroom without getting beaten up.
This common attitude of “we’re better than that” towards historical fascism is one of the reasons countries like the USA became so ready to succumb to it. If you assume it can’t happen to you, you’ll miss all the signs when it starts. We all need to recognize that Nazism is how ordinary people like ourselves can get when the conditions are conducive to it. Germans in the 1930s and 1940s were not uniquely evil; they were like us. No person or society is immune, and resisting Nazism starts with resisting it in yourself and your community.
It’s so hard to get your head around so many people behaving so badly.

Every society can fall to fascism when the conditions are right. Humans are pack animals and susceptible to mass delusion.
This is the same US government that’s currently complaining it’s too difficult to do business in Quebec (a province of a country the US is threatening to invade) because native French speakers insist on speaking French. The US is demanding they use English.
That’s what happens when your country falls to Nazism. Anything else would be better.
The message is: don’t do business with the USA. Find other, more reliable trading partners. It may be a loss in the short term, but bowing to fascist imperialism and white supremacist ideology will be a much bigger loss overall.
They are already kidnapping innocent people in the street and disappearing them for life imprisonment with no chance of parole in El Salvador. There’s no due process, not even any consideration of evidence. They’ll kidnap whoever they want to. When their victim’s innocence is pointed out, ICE say there’s nothing they can do to get them back. Those innocent people just have to work as slaves in a foreign prison for the rest of their lives, even when known to be innocent, and even when American. Now these Nazis are ramping up their concentration camp program and will not hesitate to disappear innocent people to secret camps in the USA. No one is safe. This is the time to start fighting.
I do hope so. It’s so hard to tell these days.
I expect the Trump government will prioritize cuts that make it difficult to get accurate data about the effects of the cuts.
So in your view a poll on the attitudes of Canadians to oil and gas tariffs should ask only Canadians who have worked for many years in the oil and gas industry? That’s not a poll of Canadians, that’s a poll of the oil and gas industry.
It’s literally just giving more money to the rich. Nothing’s in it for ordinary people. They have promised as much, but they add a bit of bigotry and people flock to support them.
The stupidest populist until Poilievre showed up. Fuck all these conservatives trying to bring MAGA to the Canadian government.
“Campus antisemitism” should be given scare quotes. Let’s not just swallow the propaganda. What they’re concerned about is not antisemitism but people expressing awkward political views like: Israel is committing a genocide with the support of the USA, and committing genocide is bad even when Israel does it.
Nothing says “American values” like whining about how foreigners insist on speaking their native languages in their own countries (while threatening to invade them and demanding they do you special favours).
So they’re planning to hand trans people and women over to the Gestapo for profit.
