When I used to do I did before sleeping and greatly improved sleep quality for me.
Probably by people conquered by him. People riding by his side probably would have a different view of him.

It’s not only about “not being able to afford them”. Plenty of people in the world “cannot afford” kids and have 7 of them.
It’s the mix of being educated and understanding that it’s not a great idea to have kids, plus the means of being able to prevent or stop pregnancy. Also a cultural shift that allowed us to think by ourself and not feeling forced to have kids.
But the machine need human lubricant to keep working for its owners so they are going to take that from us to ensure we keep making them workers to exploit.
We are already seeing how anti-pregnancy methods are being attacked. And soon they will take away this new culture to bring back the old hivemind culture. And of course the education. There is already a trend on how bad it is for everyone to have a college degree.

Other captchas are also not very effective against bots. Arguably most traditional systems would be worst that recaptcha at fighting bots.
Recaptcha agent validation while a privacy violation is faster than solving any other captcha and if you are hit with the puzzle is not that much more time consuming that every other captcha.
That profit number is very questionable and they know it. Anyway, that’s no much different and probably less profitable that most google services.
Also is ridiculous how someone can say in the same article that the image puzzle can be solved by bots 100% of the time and that is a scheme to get human labor to solve the puzzle. Am I the only one seeing the logical failure here?
And what’s the purpose of all this? Just let bots roam free? Are they trying to sell other solution? What’s the point?
I hate google as much as the next guy. But I don’t really share this article spirit.
If I were to make a point. They point will be that people and companies should stop making registration only sites and dynamic sites when static websites are enough for their purposes. And only go for registration or other bot-vulnerable kind of sites of there is no way around it. But if you need to make a service that is vulnerable to bots, you need to protect it, and sadly there’s not great solutions out there. If your site is small and not targeted by anyone malicious specifically you can get with simpler solutions. But bigger or targeted sites really can’t get around needing google or cloudfare and assume that it will only mitigate the damage.
But if anyone knows a better and more ethical solution to prevent bot spam for a service that really need to have registrations, please tell me.

I would pay for a power efficient AI expansion card. So I can self host AI services easily without needing a 3000€ gpu that consumes 10 times more than the rest of my pc.
They push whoever uses more bots and pay better advertisement.
It’s true that peer tube is the ugly duck of the fediverse right now. But I don’t think is about monetization.
On its core it’s true that is the most complex project as videos are resource heavy, and producing videos is time consuming.
I don’t think people does not make videos because lack of monetization but because lack of users. And there are little users because there are little content.
IMHO the UI and UX should be the smoothest of all fediverse because it need to put it as easy as it can to everyone to attract as many users or creators as possible.
Because, let’s be true, monetization (even you can already monetize if you want) is useless is there’s nobody watching anyway.
I do like it in the sense that people HATE working in customer service. Because people have zero respect and customers make your job day miserable all the time.

Google ghg emissions in 2023 are 14.3 million metric tons. Which are a ridiculous percentage of global emissions.
Commercial aviation emissions are 935.000 million metric tons by year.
So IDK about plastic straws or google. But really if people stopped flying around so much that would actually make a dent on global emissions.
Don’t get me wrong, google is a piece of shit. But they are not the ones causing climate change, neither is AI technology. Planes, cars, meat industry, offshore production… Those are some of the truly big culprits.
I do not know how regulations come into play. But I’m OK with regulating technology according to its potential (real, not imagined) risk.
What I’m not OK with is with primitivism.
Yes. The act of voting a comment up or down shouldn’t be much different to hitting reply to that comment.
Upvote/downvote systems do exist to overcome those “+1” “-1” posts on old forums. You are not voting for the legislative elections. You are just interacting with another person comment/post in a way that does not require writing. If post comments, are not anonymous, upvotes/downvotes shouldn’t be anonymous as well.
