I’m Christian and believe strongly in the separation of church and state because it makes better governments and better churches. I also believe that any entity paying taxes should have some level of input on the political process. Between that and the legitimate non-profit status of most churches, I strongly support legitimate religious institutions being exempt from taxes in the same way I support the food bank and non-profit cultural centers being tax exempt.

But churches that choose to participate directly in the political process are not holding up their end of the bargain. They’re making church and politics both worse, and their tax-exempt status should absolutely be revoked.

Not a war. But definitely some level of rioting and domestic terrorism.

As a municipal official - that’s not how things work in reality.

Unless you’re willing to start shooting people, there comes a point where we can’t do anything. Residents have to worry about being evicted due to leins from the city, but political parties don’t because there’s nothing to seize within our jurisdictional control. All we can do is sue and get in line behind 50,000 other people who will never get paid.

Or if he doesn’t.

My parents have been brainwashed into not believing any news that shows Trump in a bad light. When I show them video of one of his rants, or his dancing, or him giving a microphone a happy ending, they think I’m gullible and am falling for doctored video.

When people have been trained not to trust legitimate news sources, it’s really, really hard to convince them to come back to reality because, in their eyes, we’re the brainwashed ones.

Last several I’ve jobs had it kick in on the first business day of the next month, and end on the first business day of the month after leaving, so i think it was more of a “this is how our provider has us add and remove people” thing.

I dunno. If anyone has the servants of darkness hanging out at their home, it’s this guy.

I’m not saying for US citizens and US companies. That’s how they avoid taxes - by registering in anther country.

Any person or company that does business in the US, even tangentially.

You’re based out of Panama? Cool. Pay them what they require, then pay the remaining X that a US company would own to either Panama, the US, or some other country you operate within.

Don’t grant them tax havens.

My solution:

Your tax burden is your tax burden. If it’s 15% and you run off to a country where it’s 5% to avoid taxes, that’s fine. You can pay them 5%.

But you’re still on the hook for the remaining 10%.

If the 5% country tries to act as a tax haven and refuses to enforce the remaining 10%, they get a national embargo until they get in line.

No. Instead, you have to get a surety bond, which is a bail bond without bounty hunters.
