  • i used to live in texas and every time i both didn’t qualify for mail in voting and the hours long wait at the ballot place turned me away despite my best efforts. (i wish that portable personal urinals with privacy and dinner delivery to polling places with garbage cleanup were things).

WTF, that sounds criminal. I never had to wait in line for more than a few minutes, if at all. And everyone can mail in their vote.

  • Just for drive redundancy it’s awesome. One drive fails you just pull it out, put in a new one and let the array rebuild. I guess the upside of hardware RAID is that some even allow you to swap a disk without powering down. Either way, you have minimal downtime.

I guess a better way would be to have multiple servers. Though with features like checksums in BTRFS I guess a RAID is still better because it can protect against bitrot. And with directly connected systems in a RAID it is generally easier to ensure consistency.

  • A Monster 2 8 MB. I remember being angry at my parents that they didn’t get me the 12 MB version. But I couldn’t formulate my anger because I didn’t understand the difference between system and GPU RAM.

Still, I was amazed how quickly weapon switching now was in Jedi Knight. And Unreal always looked thr best in Glide. And the included rotating donut demo with bump mapping was awesome! A feature that would go on to be touted as the revolutionary hot new shit even 20 years later.

  • I’d say it doesn’t matter. While on desktop people generally pay more for a single game I’d guess that expectations are higher as well.

In the end the most important thing for your game is that it is fun. Then people have to know that it exists. Everything else is not as important. People have to want to play your game.

If your concept works better on mobile, do it on mobile. If your concept works better on desktop, do it on desktop.

Just make it fun and complete it.

And your first game will probably not be such an astounding success like my own debut Diarrhea 4.
