Iirc it’s a half-scam from the icecream machine manufacturer, since they have an exclusivity deal with Mcd’s and as such provide shitty machines that only they can repair and then charge a stupid amount of money to fix them.

Thanks for finding the actual statistics. My initial feeling was that there are too many ways to interpret what the article was saying, and playing silly buggers with the statistics.
Yeah, though I think currently only emissions cutting should be implemented, mostly because damage reversing tech like DAC take green energy that could otherwise be used to more effectively cut emissions elsewhere. Once we start getting excess green energy to do such things, then it should be implemented. It should still be researched and developed now tho
Yep, for literally anything in space or aerospace he is my go-to. I also like Angela Collier for physics, she makes great content.
Yep, currently industry needs to be cutting down a much emotion as possible, but DAC will probably still be needed in a couple decades, and research takes time so it’s still good that it is happening now.
I think because simpleX is more open source, self-hosted, and maybe slightly more anonymous. Not sure how the usability trades off for that if at all because I haven’t used it (I mainly use signal and discord)
It also doesn’t seem to be a mass migration by any means, just that simpleX is a bit better if you are super hardcore about your privacy.
Even if your monero wallet or account or whatever is firmly linked to your real identity?
Oops lol It was very late last night when I commented
Young trump and Epstein. Tbh not sure why they used that pic
Nestle moment
A bit more context from reading the article
the bear was actively going through the trash of a woman’s summer house while she was there which is why it was reported
the Iceland environmental agency actively decided to not try and relocate it, likely due to how expensive it would be to take back to Greenland
the bear is also being studied for potential diseases/parasites, how healthy it was, body fat, etc. which is nice I guess
Yea from the article it’s pretty much just that it’s hard to go through the process of getting approved to get the loan and proving that it’s worthwhile to the government.
“One hang-up has been a requirement that companies get funding from private investors before the loans can go out. The program’s rigorous due-diligence process, higher interest rates and slowing growth in electric-car sales have made it harder to get deals done.”
It was initially a pwa, but now it is a full and proper app, even available on Google play now!
I believe it can still be used as a pwa though.
Depends how you do it, currently absolutely not because it uses coal coke usually for the heating and/or carbon infusion. To have it be carbon capture you would have to heat it with an arc furnace or something, completely powered by renewables (this is actually very hard to to because of the ridiculously high temperatures involved) and then find some way to use captured carbon to put into the mix, or potentially using very pure charcoal or something
According to the article the way they define green steel is using arc furnaces or hydrogen to heat the steel, idk how they do the carbon input tho.
Unfortunately, there is also almost certainly a secondary problem in that the parks and rescue services are underfunded to do such overhauls. Granted, some better off ones probably can and will but likely not all.
They functionally do, at almost all points in time there are enough capsules docked to the station for all astronauts to be able to return to Earth. The starliner capsule is currently able to return if needed, they are having it stay up there a bit longer to check things out to better understand why the one thruster is bad.
Yes that is the joke
Honestly I could maybe believe the 20 countries thing because it is highly dependent on what countries those 20 are and there’s a lot of tiny countries out there
I think they definitely dropped a kilo somewhere for the numbers they got tho
So like… Don’t build it out of ice then? Also it’s a book that may or may not be fully accurate, and should be taken as a thought experiment and story
There are plenty of valid concerns but that is not one of them lol
