2 months agoI’ve done a lot reading lately into how global tariffs and economic and military pressures are used to force down cocoa prices, not so that anyone can have cheap chocolate, but just so that western chocolate companies can have higher profits and exploit more. State owned cocoa processing is a surprisingly essential and sizeable part of becoming independent from economic control.
As someone who’s done a lot of work in the science sectors, it’s been ruined by modern capitalism for at least half a century, if not longer. In the past it did benefit at least a bit from leftover war funding and majority public investment. Most scientists do say the same.
