In the 90s I lived in Madchester, for the peak of Oasis, so I think that may have swayed my tastes!

Indeed, when I started at my current job there was a Anglophile guy who was really into the Beatles and other “classic rock” groups. Being from an English speaking country he was keen to talk to me, at length, about music.

After a while I noticed that he never mentioned any groups that even had one woman in the lineup, I started asking his opinion about the likes of Janis Joplin and Heart, and he just kind of locked up.

He will now say a frosty hello to me if I prompt him directly, but that’s about it … he has two daughters who don’t talk to him apparently.

Flipside is, having a passport is handy if you want to leave the country ;-)

I got a very cheap second hand HP G4 mini PC with a Bluetooth remote control.

It sits under my TV, and I use it for all my downloading needs (away from any computer that gets used for email or banking, etc), playing videos, and emulated games with an old Xbox controller.

Works faster than anything built into the TV, and the remote is better because it has a proper little keyboard on it :-)

TBH the experience is so positive I don’t understand why anyone would want to use the smart features of a modern TV when they could be doing this instead.

Meh, I broke my leg a month after meeting a beautiful lady, she decided to stay over to help me out while I couldn’t walk.

We’re coming up for our 10 year anniversary, and still very much in love.

It doesn’t always work out, but sometimes it does so it’s worth trying :-)

Yeah, I live halfway up a small mountain (in Europe) and usually have everything needed to survive a month, including if the water and power are cut.

We’re currently putting together a pair of bug-out bags as well though, so we can be mobile in an emergency too

Just chipping in to say I ate a can of food that was made during WW2 in 1990, so yeah cans do keep for a long time … when they get very old the trick is to shake the can before opening and if it sounds like there’s air inside it’s gone bad
