  • In the 2000s and 2010s Brand was seen as a progressive who rallied against the 1 % with some hippie spirituality thing sprinkled in. He started his own YouTube channel. Then around 2020 he was slowly incorporating things like The Great Reset, rallying against vaccine mandates and other right-wing talking points. He started to appear with Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro and the like. The rebranding reached a culmination in April 2024, when he was baptised.

  • As I previously told, I decided to RMA my netbook server’s SSD and send it to Denmark for repair. In the meantime, I put the server’s original HDD back, installed Ubuntu Server and now it runs several other things, except for NextCloud. It clearly looks like the laptop’s SATA port isn’t at fault, as the laptop’s been running for over a week with no interruptions and errors whatsoever.

What else? I may try to code several of my Angular projects.

  • Exactly. It’s ridiculous how UE5 has tools like Nanite that should free developers from previously time-consuming chores such as creating LOD meshes and provide great performance at the same time. Instead it leads to performance problems and the developers may not optimize their games properly. The resulting game needs to render at a lower base resolution like fucking 720p and upscale from that using AI, add some bad anti-aliasing and the overall image quality is blurry. This has to be done, as otherwise the game’s performance will barely reach stable 30 FPS, even on new GPUs with all the bells and whistles. Oh, and if the game can’t reach 60 FPS? No worry, there’s AI frame generation! We were supposed to live in times of realistic graphics with great performance, but all we get is tools to circumvent bad performance and image quality resulting from bad optimization.

  • The problems I described eventually happened again after 3 days or so. I got pissed, so I decided to RMA the drive and ship it to Denmark where the store I bought it from has its HQ. As a temporary solution I formatted the laptop’s original HDD, put it back and installed Ubuntu Server. A bit of setting up and now things work. In the meantime I won’t be running NextCloud though, as the drive’s only 250 GB.
