I’ve seen this brought up a bunch on Xiaohongshu, that the export industry in China is already hyper efficient and running razor thin margins. There is no room to reduce costs on that end. Even playing games with shipping the goods to an intermediary country, filing off the serial numbers, and then passing them on to the U.S. will still drive up prices as it’s introducing another middle man.
