@thenewoil@mastodon.thenewoil.org Degoogling is an excellent idea that unfortunately comes with the price of some inconveniences. Openstreetmap, Osmand or Organic Maps are alternatives, but they will not tell you about road blocks, traffic jams etc. I used these alternatives some times in the past and yes, they work well. But as soon as there are complications, they will leave you more or less lost. I am not a fan of Maps, but I have to admit that it’s the by far best solution for car navigation. Alternatives are there, but they are not even close. Just wanted to mention it. Using Maps carefully on a phone with GrapheneOS in a sandboxed environment could be an option. Or accepting some limitations.
