  • Finished Nier:Automata for the first time today. I know it’s the kind of game you’re supposed to play multiple times to get different endings, but the ending just made me go HUH?

I killed Adam and Eve as 2B and that’s it? 2B was in the middle of a character arc about revelling against YorHa. What the fuck even is YorHa? They’re a very sinister organization aesthetically. “For the glory of mankind” but we never see any humans. 2B saw that YorHa wasn’t right about everything, and Pascal proved that machines weren’t a mindless enemy. But the game just ends as soon as Eve dies?

What’s going on with the machines? Why do they have emotions? What is YorHa, why are they so suspicious? Does humanity even exist anymore? What does 2B value? Who the fuck is A2? What’s up with Pascal and his pacifism? What the fuck is going on? I have so many questions.

I assume these questions will be answered. I’ve started a game as 9S, and I think it’s very cool to play a different character with a different playstyle. I just think the game ended for 2B way too early.

I assume I’ll get to play as 2B again, so I’m not that worried or upset. I just have a lot of questions.

  • Anyone who knows Russian history, I’d like some input here. I’m reading a passage (source isn’t important) that explains Russian expansion to the east like this:

The harshness of the climate and the low productivity of the soil tended to push Russians to seek out new lands to plow rather than to increase the yield of lands already cultivated

But is this correct? I thought much of Russian land was very fertile, like Ukraine is the bread-basket of Europe. Was food insecurity really a factor in Russian colonialism? Also, this makes it seem like it was Russian serfs who sought more fertile lands, but surely it would have been the lords? This just doesn’t seem to make much sense to me.
