Let me let you in on a little secret, because the title implies otherwise - wildlife protection was never a priority, and will never become one, to any company under capitalism, but especially to a company like that.

Very much this, and also - Starmer is a neoliberal, he plays for and by the rules of capitalism, which puts his interests in direct contradiction with acting to slow climate change and deal with its inevitable consequences, and hold those responsible accountable. I see a few acts of greenwashing at best, while the corporations exploiting people and resources for profit will continue to do just that. He might even end up making it easier for them, after all, he prides himself on being pro-business.
Don’t forget his 115 grand of the taxpayers money that he’ll be getting every year for the rest of his life for "office costs and secretarial costs arising from his special position in public life” as well as severance and a special pension. Pocket change to him of course, but you know he’s going to claim every single penny of it just for the joy of fucking over regular people, and then probably invest it in arms manufacturing or oil and coal companies or private prisons or something else evil like that, as a treat.
This happened in Canada, what does the usa have to do with this? This same thing is playing out over in the EU as well…People inherently do not want groups that come over and violently force their beliefs on the population.
Maybe if the first group of countries stopped their centuries old “tradition” of doing exactly that to the rest of the world (and on a scale no immigrant could ever imagine inflicting, even if they were so inclined), there wouldn’t be so many people fleeing “developing” nations and war zones in the first place?
I mean, you’re a racist xenophobe so I don’t expect logic would mean much to you, you just want confirmation that brown Muslim people are violent by nature and that they’ve come over there to take your job and rape “your” women), but that doesn’t change reality (which is that your job is at risk because of capitalists, and white men are by far the largest demographic of rapists and other criminals, despite our “justice” systems doing their darndest to over represent minorities in prisons) , nor the fact that almost all of the supposed problems our “developed” world countries have with immigration are at the very least 98% self inflicted and could be resolved if only our governments didn’t treat, and brainwash the population to treat “foreigners” as their scapegoat.
You’re being manipulated by the oldest trick in the book, the fact that you’ve taken the propaganda on so enthusiastically is something you should work out with yourself, rather than taking it out on the most convenient target those in power have marked for you.
What is happening now is the system self correcting. It was designed to concentrate immense power in the hands of a select, corrupt, few, all we’re seeing now is the illusions they’ve piled on to that slowly dissolve as they no longer need to keep up pretences.
Plenty of young people agree with him, because this isn’t a generational issue, it’s a class one.
This is like reading a reverse horoscope - you’ve just thrown as many negative traits as you could think of at the wall, knowing at least a few will stick.
Nothing on your list couldn’t also apply to an adult, especially those most privileged and entitled in society.
To add to the extensive information you’ve already been given, I would highly recommend the Anarchist FAQ, which is all good, but specifically section J breaks down the “what can we do about it” part.
The anarchist Library in general is a fantastic resource, another good place to start might be David Graeber’s Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You! or Kropotkin’s Mutual Aid.
Happy exploring!
It’s no longer the case that everyone in America is equal under the law.
Is there a “never has been” version of the “always has been” meme?
Them taking the mask off and being open about it is serious and dangerous don’t get me wrong, but lets not pretend the law is, or ever was written nor administered equally - filthy rich and powerful white men in particular have always put themselves above it.
America’s big problem is not Joe Biden, it’s the menace to democracy posed by Donald Trump
It’s neither, the problem is the illusion that we call democracy, and the compromises we (the people, not the rulers, of course) are told we have to make in order to maintain it (AKA the status quo) despite it being designed to keep us down (again, by providing an illusion of choice) rather than serve us.
As another person already said - trump is just a symptom, it is the system that enables and encourages his existence, and it is the system that needs to be abolished if the working class is to ever have a shot at justice, equity, and equality.
Articles like this are acts of systemic self defence - deflection to keep us looking at the illusion instead of the reality.
I’m glad you’re finding the info helpful and insightful.
I think with regards to use of language, this is another good read (E: also the understanding-disability link I attached earlier will will probably help with the “why” behind thinking “disabled” is a slur). It might be coming at this from a slightly different angle, but I think the point still stands - “politeness”, “offence”, “political correctness” these are terms most often used by the privileged to police the speech of and control marginalised people (aka “respectability politics”), rather than the other way around, but I might be digressing a little at this point lol…
It’s such a shame it’s all of our collective necks that boot you’re licking so enthusiastically is stomping on, not just yours.
More power to them, we need collectives like this in every town and city. Build communities that exist to serve and support their members, not line the pockets of some already obscenely rich capitalist that has probably never even set foot locally.
reminded me of
ID: comic showing a homeless person sleeping in a doorway when a cop comes and tells them it’s illegal to sleep in public. The homeless person replies saying they guess they’ll just go to a hotel tonight, or maybe their townhouse or the Hamptons, then make a mock call to “Smithers” saying their “super fun street sleeping holiday” is over and asking which mansion they should sleep in, as the cop thinks “next: outlaw sarcasm”
Well, no, they aren’t fighting homelessness at all, that would mean trying to reduce, not to mention eliminate it.
Capitalists want homelessness, so that they have a whole under class of people to lock up and exploit, and that also serve as a warning to the rest of the working class.
The war is definitely against the homeless, not homelessness.
And I’m sure that isn’t the only case either…
