Considering the mod will ban you for expressing literally the same sentiment as the OP and was posting multiple time daily, I think they are.
Agreed, even worse is algorithms continual boosting of “ragebait” or emotion centred content. Why read/watch an article that will “just” be informative when you can watch something claiming how any step forward means you’ll lose something.
I’m providing some of the reasons I’ve read or heard from the campaign. Not that I support them or their validity. Regardless of whether people “could” have sought it out if labour wanting to put forward these changes the onus is on them address all the “concerns” either directly or by be being more informative in their campaign.
Which is all an aside, my point remains there were other reasons people didn’t vote yes contrary to what the writer of the article asserted.
The reasons I saw from the no campaign were 1. Unclear wording in the constitution 2. Bringing race into the constitution (either for all or none) 3. Lack of explanation as to how the changes, again to our constitution, would tangibly “close the gap”. I largely blame labour for it failing. Plenty of nos could have been yes if the campaign was more clear and informative imo but I don’t doubt racism played its part. Blaming it exclusively on racism and political apathy is disingenuous and certainly won’t inform people nor change their minds.
Last year, Australia showed how unengaged and racist this country remains by refusing to insert an Indigenous advisory voice
Right, those are the options. Either you voted yes or you’re unengaged and racist.
If I were, like so many others, to believe what it is I have heard and seen since Thorpe took to the floor, I would be convinced she had broken through the barricades, thrown open the doors, stormed to the front and then proceeding to call his majesty everything under the sun. I certainly wouldn’t get the impression that she, as an Australian senator, attended an event she had been duly invited to, engaged in an act of peaceful resistance by turning her back as God Save the King played and then proceeded to yell a few hard truths about the Crown and the history of this country
This writing is just floundering and bordering on dishonest. While I agree too many people are clutching pearls about it, yelling at the King is what it is. Other First Nations members and elders have stated their disapproval for obvious reasons. While the reactionary “shock” about it is tiring; this side of it is as well. As pointed out it wouldn’t be with the crown these things would negotiated anyway. It would be with the commonwealth/parliament. So yelling at the king during this sort of ceremony about it is not only inappropriate due the event but also due to it being the wrong person to bring this to.
Worth pointing out our feds recently dismantled a criminal syndicate centred around an encrypted comms app. Stuff like that is on their radar and has been for a minute for imo, pretty obvious reasons.
Guys definitely trolling or not right. Straight up agreed that Linux is probably mentioned too often but given this sites origins, it shouldn’t be surprising a lot of people advocate for it here. @madthumbs@lemmy.world banned me for it. Sad guy.
Edit: Bizarrely enough the guy used to comment in Linux communities. Including, ironic enough, a comment shitting on a distro for being “new user friendly” but not really much easier to use. I guess when their takes were met with disagreement they decided yelling into the void and banning dissenters was a better option.
Ideally a Bluetooth dongle/maybe a speaker. Looks like an old problem from a quick google. So there we go don’t need VMs!
I have seen Nix come up quite a bit and have been tempted to try it. I’ve rolled with Arch before so I was considering going back to it but maybe something new be go.
The OS itself I don’t back up outside of mirroring. I run an immutable OS (every reboot is like a fresh install). I can redeploy from git so no need to backup. I have some persistent BTRFS volumes mounted where logs, caches, and state go. Don’t backup, but I swap the volume every boot and keep the last 30 days of volumes or a min of at least 10 for debugging.
Something like this has always interested me. I remember reading about doing similar with Windows. Not so much it being immutable so much as having a decent starting image that you load on any device you want with all your programs ready to go.
Runs Arrs, Jellyfin, Monero node, Tor entry node, wireguard VPN (to get into network from remote), I2C, Mullvad VPN (default), Proton VPN (torrents with port forwarding use this), DNS (forced over VPN using DoT), PiHole in front of that, three of my WiFi vlans route through either Mulvad, I2C, or Tor. I’ll use TailsOS for anything sensitive. WiFi is just to get to I2C or Onion sites where I’m not worried about my device possibly leaking identity.
Do you have a guide or ten you used for all this perchance? Unraid has stuff like trashguides and space invader one. Especially the DNS part onwards? If not it’s cool I have Mullvad set up and Pihole with my current setup so I’ll be able to work it out. This is all very compelling for me to try out (I should really have learned about wireguard by now). Thanks a lot for such an interesting and informative write up!
Arch btw
Like I needed even more temptation. Cheers for confirming my suspicion that rolling a Linux distro is likely the go. I don’t really need a VM, just hassio doesn’t (didn’t?) have pass through without it.
For entry homelab stuff I still think it’s great. Literally just smacked it into an old HP server (now my cannibalised gaming builds) and it was good to go. However I was pretty inexperienced then (hence why I think I may have borked something fundamentally). Now days I’m more comfortable which getting under the hood hence looking for alternative. Definitely would still suggest Unraid to some though.
I was tempted to do something like an Ubuntu server. I figured all my NAS stuff is run through docker anyway. Cheers I’ll check out dockge
“Don’t be rocking up to our shores looking like a snack” - Iceland, allegedly.
I think there is good tactical reason for it and I trust these guys have been doing it long enough to not waste ordinance. I can think of at least one advantage for use with UAV which I won’t speculate on here in the incredibly unlikely event that I might be right.
Sure but I rope him in because of his try hard “Yes.” Presumably he envisions it as him passing his verdict on any given situation. I see it as him (and by extension his platform) endorsing everything in the contextually relevant chain that Ackerman posted.
Super cool that billionaires (one that bought out a huge social media network, conveniently) and politicians are colluding in public to tarnish the opponent of their choice in candidate. Lucky they’re not journalist and are spreading these reddit tier investigation/accusations through social media. Very cool and not illegal feeling at all.
It is actually almost impressive. Stirring up further doubt in MSM via crippling the legitimacy of the debate which was terrible for Trump. Whilst driving more lunatics into twitter, which is more eyeballs for their propaganda and further destroys what twitter was before dickhead bought it out. Pity the execution was transparent and moronic as per.
I’ve lived in shitty apartments but dated two people who lived in “modern” high rise appartments. In mine I heard the neighbours occasionally since they were clearly old motels that they half arsed into units. The modern apartments I practically never heard anyone.
Though “modern” apartment generally price out people who are up all hours making noise it’s more the fact that these appartments usually have body corporates or people that live on site. Being the typical “up all hours stomping around” type would be a quick way to have your lease terminated.
Edit: Duh and the super obvious thing I forgot, improved sound insulation in modern apartments I imagine as well.
If this is accurate—and I do not know that it is—it would constitute one of the gravest violations of journalist ethics in presidential debate history. If true, multiple senior people at @abc
If indeed this turns out to be true, which is looking increasingly likely,
Right, so all you blokes (though they can hardly be called that), Cruz, Musk and Ackerman. You’ll all be resigning when this comes out as bullshit right? Since ethics and integrity are super important right? How can your constituents or shareholders have any faith in you if you don’t? If them (ABC and Harris) doing this is such a grave violation; your all but reporting it as fact should be nearly the same level.
Also, just super love Cruz, truly dedicated to swallowing Trumps balls to the end. If ethics are a big problem we should be hearing Cruz complaining about Trump lying 33 times during the debate.
Oh what’s that, we don’t hear anything? Ah well, Cruz’ mouth is probably full, give Donny a minute or two.
Right, I’m sure they do. I just have a hard time believing the bloke who jumped in a tow truck in a tantrum and drove it into other peoples property truly thought that this was the case.
Don’t get me wrong I see the news report from five years ago of it happening but old mate realistically probably didn’t think the guy he told repeatedly to get away from his car was actually stealing it. Edit:
“Dude, put my f–king truck down now! I’m warning you,” the suspect identified as Laiosa yells at the driver. “I’m warning you, motherf–ker! Get the f–k away from my truck!” he continues before jumping into the tow truck and barreling down the street with his truck attached.
Definitely a guy that thinks he’s being robbed and not pissed that he’s being towed guys, totally.
“He said the tow truck was unmarked, the guy made threatening comments to him and he thought the guy was robbing his truck,” he told The Post.
Oh yes, the guy getting towed totally thought he was getting robbed. A car thief that brought a… tow truck. In broad daylight. Is there a gang a car thieves out there intentionally trying to get locked up? Or is this as shit a cope for a 55 year old as it sounds?
I think that’s a pretty closed off view of self help. Especially since earlier generations, particularly men, were sold the whole “men don’t cry” and “put up or shut up”. Essentially gaslit entire generations believing that forcing down emotions and emotional introspection out of their lives was the right thing to do. So it filled a market gap. Especially ones written by professionals, specifically in mental health or philosophy.
I’ve also seen (and personally received) testimonials on their effects. Shit people have literally read their way out of a smoking addiction (Alan Carr for my dart munching friends). That’s not to say there isn’t a lot of trash out there cashing in. Just the “everyone knows they don’t work” line irked me into replying.
