My pick: Either Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) or Forza Horizon 1.
Edit: jeez some of you are old AF lol
I’ll throw my hat in for Re-Volt or however it’s spelt.
There was a post the other day about yet another remake of our fire the steam platform (search for RVGL maybe); I haven’t looked into that but back in the day of Voodoo graphics it was so friggin’ fun to play, but single player and 8-player LAN.
Need for Speed: Underground 2
Burnout 3 : Takedown
Trackmania™
Rrrrrriiiiiiiidge RACER series for fun
Gran Turismo series for sim
The time I spent playing stunts on that old dos machine 😍
Burnout 2 or 3. Because the object is to either crash or cause crashes.
the soundtrack was killer too.
Blur and NFS MW 2005.
Especially because both these games had lan option so I have great memories playing with my friends, I still play Blur online sometimes.
I think it is a tie between iRacing and Assetto Corsa, tho I personally preferred AC for the graphics and cost.
As for silly fun, Super Off Road on SNES. I could spend hours playing that as a kid. 🛻💨
I still play a lot of need for speed underground on my ps2.
I’ll also always love Carmageddon 2. So much fun and a soundtrack full of Iron Maiden!
ACC or Assetto Corsa
Euro truck simulator with disabled speed limit :)
Mario Kart
But which one???
My gut says 64, but 8 is pretty frig’n awesome
Sounds exactly like what I would say. I think it’s safe to say 8 is objectively better.
Wipeout XL. Legendary soundtrack, mind bending racetracks.
Named Wipeout 2097 outside the US, and yes, the best racing game.
10/10 for physics, gameplay, music, sound effects, art, lore, graphics(for release time), it really is worth a look, even after all this time.
* In 2nd place is an old DOS 4player drift game Slicks'n'Slide.
Where’s the Codemasters love? For me, the GRID and DiRT series both strike the best balance between realism and arcadey fun. Huge shame they were bought out by EA.
Also, don’t hate me but Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is kind of a better Mario Kart. Though I haven’t played MK8.
The problem with OG grid is that it’s hard as balls. And the ai was trained by Forza Motorsport online players apparently.
Really? I completed it (PC w/Xbox360 gamepad) and I’m not particularly stellar.
