Petre-Florin Manole, a Social Democrat, has become minister of labor as part of the small group of new faces in the Romanian government sworn in on June 23, after six months of political crisis. At 41 years old, he is the first Romani person to hold a ministerial post in a country where the Romani minority still faces discrimination.
Maybe all that has something to do with the fact that they were literally chattel slaves until the 1850s, that they were genocide by the Nazis in the Porajmos and targetted for Canada style ethnic cleansing since then, while no reparations or serious affirmative action ever took place.
