We have a wonderful road here in Prague. Goes somewhat sharply up hill with a speed limit of 70km/h (43.5mi/h), there’s legit nothing along the road and both ends are just junctions. And suddenly, out of nowhere, barely even a bike lane. I presume I don’t need to explain that nobody ever bikes here?
Sadly never had the opportunity to take a picture (not like I can just stop there), so here’s one from street view, it’s hard to see, but there are cyclist markings.
Some signs are meant to be ignored
I wish it was like this. In reality it’s 4 gas stations 2 Starbucks, a Dunkin donuts, a Walmart, an Applebee’s and a 6 lane highway.
And zero sidewalks… You may be lucky and have a gutter or shoulder to walk on, but mostly you’ll walk on the street itself.
If you do find sidewalks, either people will be using them for parking, let vegetation grow over them, or are so broken up that if you were to walk on them you would break your ankles.
This is my town, at least. I live close to work and could easily walk that, but the town doesn’t care about their sidewalks and it is a bit of a dangerous walk. So, I just drive.
