#photography note: You might have noticed I post (approximately) a photo a day here. I typically post a small(ish) thumbnail and a link to the full resolution version. I also usually add a short thread with technical details on the image and whatever I found notable about the subject or the composition or whatever.

This is (like, it seems, everything on Mastodon), controversial. Some people want art to speak for itself. But I’m a professor, and so I drone on endlessly about every little thing.

@mattblaze@federate.social I enjoy the pictures and the context, I am not interested in the technical photohraphy stuff, and I somehow manage to scroll past the technical toot without suffering any personal harm while doing so…

    Some people…

@mattblaze@federate.social I definitely appreciate the posts, especially (as an immigrant) the context including historical notes you give which I wouldn’t otherwise know. Thank you.

@mattblaze@federate.social please do keep droning on! The way it comes out in my timeline is that I see the explanation first and scroll for a while and then I see the photo. It’s a perfect reveal.

  • @mattblaze@federate.social not sure why it would be controversial, but I appreciate the details on how a photo comes about. I really enjoy seeing how other photographers approach a scene so I can look at things from a different perspective or learn a thing or two about creating interesting photos. So, thanks for the details.

@mattblaze@federate.social @brian@fedinerds.net I really like it because it’s essentially a lesson in composition and I appreciate it very much.
