I have been more than 2 years on Lemmy and I have had an amazing experience with everything, but lately I see more and more US politics on all! I also see new communities regarding US politics + newspapers about the US, cross-posting same article in multiple communities and so on.
It’s only me who thinks this is too much? Anyone else that have noticed it?
I’ve blocked so many communities that my all feed is finally starting to clear up recently
How long did this take you? Also do you find that you have to repeatedly block the same communities? There is certain communities that shows up every day and gets blocked every day, and the next day they’re back
It took me a whhhhile my best advice, is to make All/new your home feed, and block Aggressively ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, you don’t want to see, even if it’s not politics. Block block block block. I make it a habit to check lemmy every morning and block every single community i do not want that’s shown up in the current day. I keep blocking until I hit posts from the previous day where I’ve already gone through and did my blocking. Do that every day, be consistent, and you’ll see it start to clear up.
YES My god it’s annoying too. The thing is, I think the ppl who make those communities, make a bunch of them on several instances bc they know no one wants to see it and they aren’t getting engagement. It’s their way of shoving it down your throat.
My theory on this, is it’s because the same users are deliberately creating more of them on other instances. Just keep blocking and don’t stop.
Now, for me, I only get maybe 5 to 7 communities each day I don’t want to see and I block them, and it clears up my feed.
