Under the new EBU rules, participants in this year’s Eurovision are only allowed to display the flag of the country they represent, both on stage and in spaces like the Green Room, where contestants await the voting results.
AVROTROS has expressed its intention to seek an exemption for the Pride flag from these restrictions, stressing that it does not view the flag as a political symbol, but rather as a representation of inclusion and equality. “We would like to explore whether there is room for change. We hope the EBU is open to discussion,” a representative of the broadcaster stated.
