          No, we don’t, but it is still better not to have pestilence-ridden meat on the table that had to be bleached in oder not to rot in the supermarket.

          The Japanese, though, do. See: Chicken Sashimi.

            It is illegal to pump chicken full of hormones in the US. That is one problem we do not have.

              afaik it’s not a thing anywhere in the world, however the myth remains because often chicken has the “hormone free” labels on them

        Why don’t they count? Are they just weak millionaires instead of billionaires? If they are billionaires and this helps them out a bit, I don’t think American poors will mind a little more disease.

      If you don’t have a food thermometer, get one now. Salmonella can be easily killed by cooking at the proper temperature.

        Or, hear me out, just eat more veggies. Much lower risk of disease spread (though yes, as I’m sure others well be eager to point out, they can carry pathogens, would you rather take your chances with a raw carrot or a raw chicken breast)

          Most cases of food poisoning come from bacteria on vegetables. Probably because people do eat a lot of raw vegetables, but don’t eat much raw meat.

      What makes this even more batshit insane is that they’re currently pressuring the UK and EU to lift their ban on US chicken; a ban which only exists because of the already poor food safety standards of the US meat industry.
