Recent events in #politics triggered me to write a manifesto on the values of #Democracy and what we can to do preserve them.

Democracy can only be held up to the standards of the general public. Trump tried to overthrow the US Government and the public either allowed it or simply weren’t bothered by it.

This is why when people demand the Democrats to do something about Trump’s illegal EOs, I laugh. Trump is actively defying the courts RIGHT NOW, the same courts that have him immunity for official acts. Suing him won’t do anything, he dosen’t care, he’s at the end of his life anyways.

The only people that can stop him are the Military or if enough Republicans and the SCOTUS get on board with impeachment and removal. Which I don’t see either scenario happening.

This is what this country voted for.

Yeah, I think we’re pretty much aligned on that.

I also wish I could do more in those regards, but I’m neither an American nor a politician. The latter I could change, but even if I were successful, then by the time I could affect some change it would probably be too late.

Still refusing to sit idly by, I decided to have a thought on how this could be prevented. A system with similar values as democracy, but better resilience against corruption could theoretically prevent a lot of harm. I don’t when or if anyone would be willing and able to do something with these ideas, but I figured it was the best I could do for now.

        LONG READ, but very insightful

Social Media has really fried the American Public’s grasp of civics and morality. You wanna know why Dems suing or protesting Trump won’t matter? HE DOSEN’T CARE.

Trump has a signed a large amount of ILLEGAL executive orders that he didn’t need congress to do. That’s ILLEGAL. But guess what? You can’t do anything about it, the president cannot be arrested by law enforcement (barring something like murder). He has to be impeached and removed, which has been made HARDER now, because the Supreme Court just gave Presidents immunity for official acts (to help him in court last year).

Did you properly read that? You literally CANNOT stop Trump through diplomatic efforts WITHOUT Republicans. Dems don’t have a majority in Congress to launch impeachment, and the SCOTUS is 6-3 in favor of Trump, he literally cannot be stopped without Republicans getting on board.

The only other way is an FBI/CIA/Military Coup on the government. Which would be pretty quick.

What I just explained is why I hate when people say morals don’t matter when electing officials. Saying “Trump is mean, but gets the job done” is what leads to do him doing illegal things in office. The time to stop Trump was in Election Day. He’s in now.

          Preach.

You’re right a coup or revolution is probably the only way out for the US at this point. But when that day comes, reestablishing democracy with the rules of today would be a bad idea, since the capitalists know how to game the system. So if we acknowledge that democracy is broken, and authoritarianism isn’t the way, we need a new system. Hopefully this post helped to give some ideas what a new system could look like.

Not gonna happen anytime soon or probably in our lifetimes. The left greatly underestimates how big of a factor racism and culture war nonsense is in this country. They just don’t want to admit it.
