Actually GoodRX is one positive thing about middleman. So if they do something about middleman, I’ll probably be forced to go back the higher pricing of my insurance company. What is insidious is that they are allowed to negotiate price as % of over the counter price which is just wrong. They could fix the problem by simply saying that no contract from insiders can restrict what over the counter price can be, and that over the counter price cannot be more then 20% higher then the cheapest contractual price. Problem solved. Now typically over the counter price is 5X contractual.

Edit: My experience is that GoodRX price varies in the range of insurance price down to 1/3 insurance price though you do have to go to specific pharmacies to get the best price. One med I changed the price from $250 to $35 by both choosing a different med and moving to GoodRX versus doing nothing. That is 1000’s of dollars over the years I have done that. The change in med took me from $250 to $90 then GoodRX from $90 to $35. Been a bunch of years of course now, and this year the GoodRX price is now $55 which is a little less then another similar med I could get through insurance at about $63. It is all a game.
