As for this community to comply with the latest instance rule, Xitter (X/Twitter) links won’t be allowed. (This has been effective since 26-27th depending on your timezone.)

To summarize:
-
No X/Twitter links, shortened X/Twitter links or similar allowed. Screenshots from X/Twitter are still allowed but better avoided if possible.
-
Exception: in rare cases, https://xcancel.com/ versions of a link may be allowed, but this will be exclusive to some hard to fact check sources that DO require a link to an X/Twitter post.
No other frontend links or loopholes will be allowed.
Thank you for your time and understanding. Stay private!
Why xcancel specifically? It’s not the only remaining nitter instance.
There’s also nitter.poast.org but i’m not sure why shaytan made it xcancel specifically. @shaytan@lemmy.dbzer0.com what ar your thoughts on adding this instance too?
Not a personal preference
In the new instance rule, the only exception allowed has been xcancel
It’s outside of our control
I see. Well it doesn’t matter so long as it works.
Appreciate the hard stance and encouraging people to find alternative sources!
We do have to be strict about this, as this rule comes from the instance and we must comply with that.
Still, avoiding traditional social media in general is a thing I support, so for me this rule is great. And I believe it also aligns with the view of a community who cares about privacy, as X/Twitter does like users data a lot.

Can you link to the explanation on this instance? As an outsider, it’s not immediately apparent to me.

Given the current political backdrop and recent video of Elon Musk performing clearly identifiable Nazi salutes at the Presidential inauguration, some communities have started banning all links to X/Twitter.
Hooray for boycotting fascist platforms
Great stuff.
The more places that ice out that chucklefuck service the better.
