Remember, when Mr. Word Salad gets elected and dies soon after, THIS will be his replacement.

Why? Even if enough people bother to vote for Harris, Cheatoes’ friends have infiltrated the polling stations to steal the election for real

“Make it so that, maybe like grandma or grandpa wants to help out a little bit more, or maybe there’s an aunt or uncle who wants to help out a little bit more," he said.

Yes. We should all just get comfortable with getting by with less and be expected to work further into old age for free.

It’s really the best way we can increase shareholder value and help concentrate wealth at the top.

What nobody usually mentions is that if there are grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings who are able to help with child care, they already fucking are, it’s not like there’s some vast untapped reserve of child care labor out there sitting idle.

Ah, yes. The Giving Tree, except possibly with multiple kids sourcing from the same trees. Good ol’ stump-forest child rearing.

I don’t care how rich or poor you are. Every parent, and I mean every parent has considered every single friend and family member they could possibly squeeze free child care out of.

Nobody is going to turn down free, reliable child care. Nobody. If a parent isn’t already tapping grandma, siblings, and friends, there’s a reason for that. Could be ranging anywhere from “Mom also has to work” to “Mom can’t keep up with a toddler any more” to “Mom is a fucking psychopath and I cut her out of my life 12 years ago.”

This is what happens when you try to mix “inbred hillbilly” with “incoherent moron”

I once got a call from friends at ten in the morning asking if I could go to my goddaughter’s mother’s Day brunch at the daycare so she wouldn’t be alone. Apparently mom couldn’t get the day off and grandmall was supposed to go but grandmall fell sick that morning. So I was the hail Mary call and I just happened to be on PTO that day. You’re damn right I dropped everything to go have juice and cookies and make bracelets with my girl. Point is that everyone who can and gives a shit is already involved in childcare.

My cousin’s wife won’t let anyone babysit their kids because it gives her anxiety, except for occasionally a few hours with the grandparents. It’s nuts. She really needs to get some therapy before her kids are old enough to have anxiety themselves about being somewhere without her.

When my wife told me what he said I assumed it was an onion article. When she said it was real I assumed it was taken out of context - surely there was some policy proposal behind these comments, like a new federal stipend for caretakers. Nope - he genuinely seems to believe that the government’s role in childcare is reminding parents that they can ask friends/family for help, as if there’s a struggling parent out there who needs to hear this. I really don’t understand who he’s trying to reach with these comments - it’s like reminding homeless people that they can panhandle if they’re struggling, which is an obtuse way of saying “fuck you, you’re on your own.”

“The slow days of most people having retired grandparents at home with nothing else to do are over for most people as the older generations are still working the same hamster wheels for survival that the young parents are just getting on.”

Meanwhile, three of my grandparents died before I was born. Grandma will have to look after a shitload of grandkids with no help.

Make it so that… there’s an aunt or uncle who wants to help out a little more.”

I see a lot of people talking about how they’re trying to force grandparents to work until they die, which is completely fucked, but not enough people noticed how he’s trying to make people responsible for their sibling’s choice to have kids or not.

Basically, if you don’t already have generational wealth, he’s going to make it so no one in your entire family can escape the cycle of poverty.

    Absolutely horrifying.
