“Well I’m from the US and I learned about the trail of tears in school”

Learn to look beyond your own experiences. Maybe that post is for the majority of people educated in the US who aren’t from California new York or Maryland.

Bro, I don’t know where you’re at but Trail of Tears is taught all over the US. In your own comments people were saying that it was taught in Texas, Florida, Ohio, etc. I learned it and I’m from a small town that is definitely rural, underfunded, and conservative. People in other countries were talking about how they had it as part of their curriculum.

Listen, I’m guessing that you’re young but maybe that’s a huge assumption on my part. What you should take away from the other post is it’s okay to be wrong and it’s okay to be embarrassed. But you need to learn grace, humility, and not to take yourself so seriously.

What you should have said was "Oh, I didn’t learn about it and assumed it wasn’t taught everywhere. My bad, thanks for educating me. " Don’t double down and then go throw shade on everyone who contributed to your discussion.

I get that your original sentiment comes from a place of deep empathy. I live with someone who is a tribal member of a tribe who literally had to walk the Trail of Tears. It is normal to have big feelings about what happened. It’s also normal to feel helpless over the current state of the world (this post).

    But like, also, chill.

I’ve never heard of anyone in the US who didn’t learn about the Trail of Tears (and how bad it was) in grade school.

this dingus made a post about how the US doesn’t teach the trail of tears yesterday and me and a few other people expressed similar comments.

he posted a picture of an old textbook from Canada and swore it was proof.

looks like he wants a do-over.

“Well I’m from the US and I learned about the trail of tears in school”

are you whining about the mistake you made yesterday?

The trail of tears is taught as a tragic centerpiece of native American history in US schools.

your example was from a very old Canadian textbook.

    got out of here.

My favorite part of the US politics is “vote for X and not for Y because both are bad, but Y…”
