Wonderful news, especially since I discovered a second authentic IMAX opened near me. The other one doesn’t have reserved seating so I’m definitely going to the new one to see Messiah.
So I assume the old one is going under soon?
Because around here people would boycott the place, as not implementing reserved seating is literally just a ploy to make people sit through commercials and show up early to spend money in the lobby.
It has literally nothing to do with modernization, tech, cost, etc. as traditional theaters had assigned seating two centuries ago.
It will definitely get fewer people now. I don’t think it will go away yet because it’s attached to a museum and it shows educational stuff and documentaries as well, so movies aren’t the only income of the establishment. People in the central and south area of the city are still closer to it than the new one as well, unless they’re willing to drive an additional 40-45 mins. The reserved seating might be enticing enough for some to be willing to make the drive though. People in the north side of town, me included, will definitely gravitate towards the new one.
But yes, no reservations in this day and age is so dumb. I had to show up 2 hours early for the first Dune so I can be among the first 30 people to get in.
FINALLY! WE’RE GETTING THE CONCLUSION OF PAUL’S (MAIN) ARC!
REJOICE, FELLOW FREMEN!
Yeah, it’s set to release at the end of next year. I’m pretty excited to see the arc wrap up, but I hope they stop there and don’t try to do the rest of the series.
Dune Messiah is relatively simple to do compared to subsequent novels. It’s almost an extension of the original Dune.
But even with Dune 1/2, I talked to many people who haven’t read the novels and they found Dune 2 confusing. Dune 1 was like the first ~20% of the book. The last 80% of the story needed more; how I wish Villeneuve had the opportunity to make a full trilogy.
I am worried that beyond Dune: Messiah, it will become increasingly difficult to make a good movie adoption. Children and God Emperor are probably easier, Chapterhouse and Heretics will likely be very challenging.
