#PhotOfTheDay is of a kid standing on top of a HUUUUUGE pile of oyster shells at the old Drakes Bay Oyster Company in Point Reyes, California. After 80+ years in business, the NPS ended their lease in 2014.

    @croyle@wandering.shop That reminds me of a restaurant in SC called Bowens Island. I bet @stu@gott.social knows that restaurant. I seem to remember that in the Oyster Room you would chuck the oyster shells on the floor that were collected and used for the driveway, but maybe that was at a different place, it has been a while. I remember that all the items on the menu used to start with “Big ol’ plate of…”.

      @kr1st@mastodon.radio @stu@gott.social Heh, I like a place with a little character like that… Although wet oyster shells on the floor might be a bit much. :) I’ve eaten at a few places where discarded peanut shells on the floor was a thing.
