Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo
Article 1, clause 10, section 3:
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
Abbott is literally calling these migrants an invasion force, like an army or something, looking to overthrow the government. I think he’s stretching things there. Texas is not getting invaded, at least in the sense that the clause refers to.
The fuck is crying about biden failing to enforce immigration policy and secure the border but yet at the same time the republican party refused to agree on finding a solution with Dems. This crippled fuck is trying to gaslight us.
Was the shot at Abbott’s disability really necessary? He’s an awful enough person that surely you can find something else to slam besides that
Why do you care? He’s a piece of shit.
This expresses what I meant better than I could have said. Thanks
No worries; I saw it once and it stuck with me. For an ms paint drawing it’s pretty powerful. I do have one small issue with it, which is that it doesn’t explicitly state that it is not a bad thing to have that trait. Calling someone disabled as an insult implies that being disabled is bad, which I fundamentally disagree with. It’s not because I ‘don’t want to upset anyone’ – it’s because I completely disagree with the implication, and I think the implication is directly damaging to us as a society.
I’d much rather insult someone because they’re a neo-fascist who deserves to find Lego on their bathroom floor with their foot at 1am when they only went for a piss and now the pain and adrenaline has jolted them awake and they won’t sleep until at least 4am… for the rest of their life.
But the National Guard is under Federal chain of command, so Pentagon can activate the Texas National Guard right out from under Abbott. Which honestly is probably exactly what Abbott wants so he can roll around whinging about the big mean Federal government usurping the state’s resources.
The Texas National Guard, not the federal national guard. Or at least thats my understanding.
National Guard is reserve troops for the national armed forces. You’re thinking of the State Guard.
It’s the part of the USA national guard that is based in Texas. Everything about them ultimately answers to the USDOD, not the governor of Texas.
Doesn’t matter. Part of the deal is that the president can order a state national guard to be federalized. Now, if the CO and command staff refused that order… that’s a whole different can of worms, and could be construed as the start of an actual rebellion.
Mr Abbott further invoked his own state’s “constitutional authority to defend and protect itself” for continuing to block federal agents from the border.
“That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary,” he added.
I’m sorry, what?
I think he’s calling Texas law ‘the supreme law of the land.’
Motherfucker is essentially claiming Sovereign Citizen.
The Supremacy clause doesn’t apply to the free person Abbot. He’s is not succeeding, he’s traveling.
